A porch, addition or commercial section can hold water longer than a steep shingle roof. Its covering needs to suit the slope and connect properly at the higher wall, perimeter and any penetrations. Asphalt shingles are not an automatic answer for every attached roof section.
Leaks can develop at seams, punctures, drains or wall transitions. The repair boundary depends on the surrounding membrane and whether moisture has reached the insulation or deck.

A compatible patch or rebuilt flashing can restore a localized defect when sound material remains around it. The system type and surface condition determine how the repair connects.
A sound, dry roof can be evaluated for a compatible restoration system after drainage and detail repairs. Coating over wet layers leaves the moisture problem underneath.
Widespread deterioration or wet layers can require removal and a new assembly. Slope, insulation, attachment and outlets need to be considered together.
